Back in 2007 the world was introduced to Qwanell "Que" Mosley when he appeared on MTV's Making The Band 4. Que known now as Anthony Q, was a finalist on the show, and was the youngest and final member chosen to be in the group eventually named Day 26. In watching the seasons of Making The Band, we saw Anthony Q go from vibrant 19 year old young man, to a 21 year old man coming into his own and who felt as if his group members and management where trying to hold him back. This eventually lead to Anthony Q departing from the group.
Since his departure from Day 26, Anthony Q, now 22, has released two mixtapes, "Q Files" & "Guitar Her", which both proved to be very successful showing his fan base is still alive and kicking. On his new found solo journey, Anthony Q sat down with Edge Magazine where he spoke about growing up without a father figure, his love for girlfriend Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane currently of Diddy-Dirty Money), life after Day 26, and more.
Check out a few excerpts below:
On growing up without a father figure:
"My mother was very independent. She is a strong woman. She raised me very well. But it was definitely hard not having that father figure. I had a stepfather...I’ll just say he could have done better”.
On being in love and separating it from business:
“I’m really in love. I have a better understanding of what love is now. Before I was young and really in LOVE, love like “WOW”. Now I understand it. And I know how to separate it from my business”.
On how he was perceived on Making The Band:
"I got to see a reflection of myself even though some of the stuff was edited in a certain way, I got to see my weaknesses and I don’t ever want to look like that again. I don’t ever want to look that emotional. I don’t ever want to be looked at like I’m a bad person. So I just took that experience and I learned from it”.
