Rapper and former Haiti Presidential Candidate Wyclef Jean was shot in Haiti today March 20, 2011. Reports state Wyclef was riding through Delmas #65 in Port-au-Prince with Busta Rhymes, Jimmy Rosemond, and his entourage when gunfire rang through the car. Wyclef was shot in his guitar hand and was taken to a local hospital.
Haiti is set to vote in its presidential runoff today and this incident just adds more friction to an already tense situation. On Saturday, the formerly exiled President Jean Bertrand Aristide returned to Haiti, stirring up much speculation ahead of the elections.
Wyclef was released from the hospital @ 2:45 a.m after being treated for his wounds. No one else in the car was injured.
