New Video: Monica- 'Until It's Gone'

Yesterday Monica on 106 & Park Monica premiered the video for her new single 'Until It's Gone' from her forthcoming album New Life. The video stars actress Malinda Williams and actor Brian White as a couple who get into an argument while driving and end up in a car crash. As a result Malinda's character is in critical condition and the family anxiously waits at the hospital hoping for best. Meanwhile Monica, who plays Malinda's big sister, sings to Brian stressing the fact that you don't know what you have until it's gone. Great video.

Matt Barnes & Gloria Govan Split

The latest victims of celebrity break up news are Lakers Forward Matt Barnes and Basketball Wives La star Gloria Govan. The couple have been together for quite a while and have three year old twin boys together. They were set to walk down the aisle last summer but called off their wedding. They also had a lot of controversy surrounded them when Matt was arrested for domestic violence shortly after the wedding was called off. In a recent episode of Basketball Wives LA Matt expressed that he knew Gloria was the one and that he was ready to walk down the aisle. Gloria also revealed that she was at a place in their relationship where she could comfortably walk away and be content. Last week Matt told a twitter fan in so many words that Gloria was up from grabs.

Matt released the following statement via email to the LA Times:

"I’d like to address the rumors surrounding mine and Gloria’s relationship," Barnes' statement read. "We have reached the difficult decision of ending our relationship and will be going our separate ways at this time. We will work together to raise our sons and wish each other only the best."

Gloria has since addressed the break-up via twitter:

Over the weekend Ashanti performed in Malaysia with the iconic David Foster and performed Whitney Houston's hits 'I Have Nothing'(which David wrote) & 'I Will Always Love You'. Ashanti has improved over the years but she definitely does not have the vocal ability to be covering any Whitney songs. Through out the performance she continuously chopped notes, had pitch issues, and at times she was screaming (and not the good kind of screaming).

Kim Kardashian To Co-Star In Tyler Perry Film 'The Marriage Counselor'

If I ever needed a sign to let me know the world was coming to an end...this is definitely it.

According to Deadline.com reality television super star Kim Kardashian is set to co-star in Tyler Perry's upcoming film 'The Marriage Counselor' based on the stage play.

The film tells the story of Judith, an Ivy League-educated relationship expert who makes her living dispensing marital advice, but is so bored with her own marriage that she breaks her professional code and cheats with a smooth talking client only to realize she has made a huge mistake.  Actress Jurnee Smollett plays the marriage counselor and Kardashian will play Ava, a co-worker who gives Judith a big city makeover and new confidence as she struggles with her personal issues. -Dealdline.com

Mathew Knowles' Mistress Claims He Wanted Her To Give Her Baby To Beyonce To Raise

What the....

We all know that Mathew Knowles is one shady character from cheating on his wife Tina, creating an illegitimate child, breaking up the original Destiny's Child, losing clients such as daughter Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Tiffany Evans, and recently being accused of stealing from daughter Beyonce, but this is a whole new can of worms. Mathew's former mistress  of 18 months Alexsandra Wright claims that Mathew wanted her to give their son to Beyonce and husband Jay-Z to raise as their own.  The pairs son Nixon was born February 4, 2010. So in fact, Bey would be raising her half-brother as her son. She also says she recorded said conversation.

Will & Jada Take Part Ownership In Philidelphia 76ers

Will and Jada Smith are the latest celebrities to take ownership in a professional sports team. The couple went back to Will's Philly roots and are now part owners of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. The team was actually sold in it's entirety to an investment group for a reported $280 million.

Comcast-Spectacor today announced that the sale of the Philadelphia 76ers to a group led by Joshua Harris, Co-Founder of Apollo Management LP, was approved by the National Basketball Association’s Board of Governors, signifying the completion of the sale. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.The acquisition does not include the Wells Fargo Center or the Philadelphia Flyers, which are owned by Comcast-Spectacor. The 76ers sale price was reportedly $280 million. 

The team will remain a long-term tenant of the Wells Fargo Center and will have a long-term cable broadcast agreement for its games with Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.

DJ Premier Stopped Justin Bieber From Doing BET Cypher: "He Wanted Ludacris To Write His Rhymes, I Was Like Oh No"

I am pretty sure that everyone is the urban community is thanking DJ Premier for stopping Justin Bieber from joining the infamous Hip-Hop Cypher that took place at this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards.

DJ Premier recently did an interview where he was asked did he have say in who does the cyphers and here's what he had to say:

"They'll give me the list. We have arguments upon arguments. Shout to Stephen Hill. Shout to Jesse Collins. Believe me, we be arguing over who should be on it and all of that. Lots of big fights over the phone.

Soulja Boy Arrested

Early this morning rapper Soulja Boy was arrested in Temple, Georgia for drug possession. The rapper's car was pulled which contained him and 4 others, for a traffic violation and when police searched the car they found large amounts of weed and an estimated 70,000 in cash, as well as a fire arm. All 5 men were arrested for possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm while committing a crime.

TMZ reports:

Soulja Boy was arrested early this morning for weed possession ... and law enforcement sources tell TMZ cops allegedly found a ton of weed and cash during the arrest.

The 21-year-old rapper -- real name DeAndre Cortez Way -- was popped early this morning by Temple Police Department officers in Temple, GA at 3:15 AM.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Soulja was riding in an Escalade with 4 other men, which was originally pulled over for a traffic violation.

YouTube Spotlight: Wayne Wilson - 'Like A Star' ( Corinne Bailey Rae Cover)

Wayne Wilson is a 23 year old singer/songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland that I stumbled across  on YouTube a couple of weeks ago through another artist from YouTube I follow on twitter. Let me just get straight to the point, this dude is a beast. When I first saw that he was covering CBR's 'Like A Star' I thought to myself "ok this is going to be a simple, pretty, mellow cover" as most covers of this song are. But boy was I wrong. He does take the simple mellow approach for the first part of the song, then he puts this super jazzy twist filled with soulful harmonies on it right before he throws a little bit of church in there. Blew me away. I have never heard this song sung this way before and I can say that Wayne gained an instant fan in me.

{Video} Raheem DeVaughn & Dr. Cornell West Arrested @ OccupyDC Protest

Yesterday after attending the dedication for the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, R&B Singer Raheem DeVaughn and social activist Dr. Cornel West were both arrested for participating in the OccupyDC protest.

BET.com reports:

DeVaughn and West were with several other protesters at the steps of the Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C., when police placed them in handcuffs and carried them away along with 17 others, according to ABC News. Earlier in the afternoon on Sunday, West had attended the dedication of the new Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial nearby. He invoked the late civil rights icon while standing with the demonstrators.

"We will not let this day of Martin Luther King's memorial go by without somebody being arrested," West declared into a megaphone, as seen in a video captured of the event. "Because Martin King would be right here with us willing to throw down out of deep love!"

Beyonce has been busy lately recording as many videos as she can before she enters her third trimester of her pregnancy. Today she dropped the video for her song "Love On Top", the 5th single from her album 4. The video appears to pay tribute to boy bands as a few scenes and dance moves are reminiscent of New Edition's "If It Isn't Love". Special shout out to a dancer in her video @ChrisGrant_, who is from MTV's 'Making The Band 4'. Although he didn't make the band he has been doing his thing as dancer. He was also is Michael Jackson's "This Is It". Doesn't get any better than that.
